Cairo - Protestors continued their sit-in in Tahrir Square on Monday, but there was a decrease in the number of participants. The decrease is a result of Egypt’s completion of the first phase of parliamentary elections. Demonstrators will continue their sit-in as a retaliation of Prime Minister Kamal al-Ganzour’s new cabinet. Amr Wishahi, a new demonstrator and cameraman, claims he chose to join the demonstration after visiting the square during the previous week’s events. Wishahi demands that the military hand over power to civilians even though he does not expect military rule to end. Instead, Wishahi feels that a civilian state with a parliament chosen by election that represents the will of the people would better suit Egypt’s people. 16 November 2011 A fertilizer plant in northern Egypt is the location of a clash between the Egyptian army and protestors. Protestors were against the pollution caused by the plant. Causalities include one man dead and 11 people injured. Within the last six days, demonstrators used blockage of the port town of Damietta to use to protest the plant. The plant officials have announced the potential production of two more plants locally, which is causing the protesting. The fertilizer plant received news that they are no longer able to operate by Egypt’s ruling military council. These types of activism is becoming more frequent, now under the post Mubarak ruling. State-owned Misr Oil Processing Company and Canada’s Agrium currently jointly own the plant. The residents took to the streets on Tuesday demanding the relocation of the plant. 11 October 2011 Russia came to an agreement to construct the first ever $9 billion nuclear power station. President Alexander Lukashenko signed the resolution with the Russian federation to construct the first nuclear plant in the country of Belarus. This agreement came to be only if Russia receives 50% of the profits from the power sales of the plant. Construction of the plant is already underway by the Russian contractor Atomstroiexport near the town of Ostrovets . Russia’s nuclear station building corporation Rosatom , is the primary company to build this plant along with 14 out of the 62 reactors worldwide. The reactors will have a power of a capacity of 2,400 megawatts. According to the local experts, the securities of this nuclear plant will four independent safety systems, which will make it one of the safest so far.
