Cairo - Protestors continued their sit-in in Tahrir Square on Monday, but there was a decrease in the number of participants. The decrease is a result of Egypt’s completion of the first phase of parliamentary elections. Demonstrators will continue their sit-in as a retaliation of Prime Minister Kamal al-Ganzour’s new cabinet. Amr Wishahi, a new demonstrator and cameraman, claims he chose to join the demonstration after visiting the square during the previous week’s events. Wishahi demands that the military hand over power to civilians even though he does not expect military rule to end. Instead, Wishahi feels that a civilian state with a parliament chosen by election that represents the will of the people would better suit Egypt’s people. Ahmed Hassan, a tourist company employee, demonstrates in honor of tourism , which he wants to restore by giving power to the civilians. 22 November 2011 Cairo- The Egyptian civilian cabinet offers to resign after three days of violent protesting between demonstrators and security forces in Tahrir Square . The offer to resign did not meet the requests of the frustrated protesters and they have been left unsatisfied. The demonstrators protesting the new military rulers demand to end of “army rule”. The death toll has risen to 33 according to morgue officials. This demonstration is the worst spasm of violence since the rebellion that overthrew former President Hosni Mubarak . Egypt’s ruling military acknowledges’ the cabinet’s resignation, according to Al-Jazeera television . Young protesters demanding a civilian government fought against black-clad police officers and threw stones and firebombs . These protesters also threw back tear gas containers that police officers were firing into the square. Cairo- The Cairo Criminal Court has sentenced fugitive policeman Mohamed Abdel Moneim to ten years in prison for killing demonstrators during the Catholic rally last week. This is the fourth sentence against Moneim, which include two of which are the death penalty and the other life imprisonment . He claims he is the governments’ scapegoat for the incident. Officials accuse Moneim of shooting protesters outside of Zawya al-Hamra police station in Cairo on 28 January. Since these accusations, Moneim has been in hiding and his lawyer claims he did not have live bullets on the day in question. In addition, Moneim’s lawyer states that snipers on the roof of the police station carried out the killing of demonstrators. Officials accuse Major General Saeed Hussein Moussa of destroying CDs that implicate Interior Ministry figures in the killing of demonstrators. Moussa’s case is on hold until December. Cairo - Egypt experienced their worst violence earlier this week since the outing of Hosni Mubarak Christian protesters allegedly initiated violent clashes with armed troops by attacking with swords and firebombs during a Christian rally . Egyptian soldiers accused of opening fire with live ammunition on protesters and intentionally running them over with armored vehicles deny the allegations. About 26 people are reported dead and a majority of them are believed to be Christians attending the rally. Forensic reports state that many of the victims had signs of wounds from gunfire and crushed by vehicles. An estimated three soldiers are among the fatalities. There are two stories of the events floating around the media. One of the stories told by Egyptian government states that the protestors became violent and attacked a unit of about 300 soldiers armed with only anti-riot gear .
