Death Sentence to Belarus Terrorist Bombers

The two Belarusians terrorist that blew up a bomb in the subway system that killed 15 people, have been sentenced to death by a court in Minsk, Belarus . Dmitry Konovalov and Vladislav Kovalyov, sentenced to death not because of political motives but because of hatred to humankind, according to investigators. They had prior accusations to other non-fatal bombings in 2005 and 2008. According to evidence collected, the Supreme Court found that Konovalov built a bomb and stayed with Kovalyov in his apartment in Minsk to prepare for the blast. Also noted was that Kovalyov was aware of the bomb attacks . Opposite to this eveidence, Konovalov’s lawyer claims that the presented evidence was trivial and inconclusive. It included a videotape of the subway station supposedly showing Kovalyov to the blast area with a very poor image quality and that certain experts claim there were no traces of explosive objects. Belarus Finalizes Deal on Russian Power Plant

11 October 2011 Russia came to an agreement to construct the first ever $9 billion nuclear power station. President Alexander Lukashenko signed the resolution with the Russian federation to construct the first nuclear plant in the country of Belarus. This agreement came to be only if Russia receives 50% of the profits from the power sales of the plant. Construction of the plant is already underway by the Russian contractor Atomstroiexport near the town of Ostrovets . Russia’s nuclear station building corporation Rosatom , is the primary company to build this plant along with 14 out of the 62 reactors worldwide. The reactors will have a power of a capacity of 2,400 megawatts. According to the local experts, the securities of this nuclear plant will four independent safety systems, which will make it one of the safest so far.
